A young woman plunges from a Las Vegas sightseeing helicopter, landing in the Pirate Lagoon in front of the Treasure Island Hotel in the middle of the 8:30 Pirate Show. Almost everyone writes her off as another Vegas victim. But, Lucky O’Toole, head of customer relations at the Babylon megacasino, smells a rat, though she’s got a lot on her plate: the adult film industry’s annual awards banquet, a spouse-swapping convention, sex-toy purveyors preying on the pocket-protector crowd attending ElectroniCon… Still Lucky can’t resist turning over a few stones.

When a former flame is one of the snakes she uncovers, Lucky is certain the woman’s death was no Sin City suicide. To top it all off, Lucky’s best friend, Teddie—Las Vegas’s finest female impersonator—presses to take their relationship to the next level. Leave it to Lucky to attract a man who looks better in a dress than she does.

Lucky must manage the Babylon’s outrageous festivities, solve the crime, and struggle to keep her life and libido from spinning out of control.
Wanna Get Lucky? (Lucky O'Toole, #1) by Deborah Coonts
Genre: Romantic Suspense

I really enjoyed this book. It was one of those books that in the middle of the afternoon, I couldn't wait until bedtime just so I could get back to the story.

This book has a slight resemblance to the Stephanie Plum books, but Lucky's got more of an edge. I like her edge. After reading this book, I read the novellas, and she doesn't lose that edge later on, which is nice. It's got some humor, some darkness, and some lightheartedness as well. It also is a love story, and a suspense. The characters are well detailed, and you feel like you know them. If I can visualize a character, I think the writer has done their job. The plot doesn't shift crazily, yet it has so much going on. It's busy, and has a steady pace, but I never felt lost. I think the love story between Lucky & Teddie was pushed a bit, and then later in the series, her love life still seems forced. I think the writing was done well, and I will look forward to reading other books by Deborah Coontz.

I honestly cannot wait to read the rest of the series!
