Discover Our America just launched this month. What a great new concept in a subscription box. I love it!

Discover Our America's mission is to bring families together to celebrate our great country and to learn more about what makes each state unique.

Every month, subscribers will receive a new U.S. state-themed box packed with 5-7 products of food, goodies, and a photo-filled overview of the state, highlighting its unique history, geography, culture and places to see.

April's box features Michigan:

  • Michigan Booklet
  • Faygo Rock & Rye
  • Detroit Bold Woodward Ave Coffee
  • Sanders Sea Salt Caramel Bar
  • Detroit Popcorn Company Caramel Corn
  • Zingerman's What the Fudge Bar
  • Martha's Fudge Sea Salt Taffy
  • Cherry Republic Wild Cherry Tea
  • Michigan 'What's Inside Guide'
The What's Inside Guide is Discover Our America's version of an info card.  It lists all the items in the box, what they are, some history, and links to their respective websites.

The first items in the box are the Faygo & Caramel Corn.

Faygo was invented in Detroit in 1907 by 2 Russian immigrants.  Faygo Rock & Rye is a Michiganian party favorite.

The Carmel Corn is from Detroit Popcorn Company. The Detroit Popcorn Company is a favorite in Michigan for it's unique recipe & variety of flavors. The caramel corn has been around since 1923.

Next we have some coffee from Detroit Bold Coffee Co, and some sea salt caramels from Sanders. Coffee. I love me some coffee. Send me coffee in a subscription box, and you are my friend. Add some sea salt dark chocolate, and I might be in love.

This coffee is a fresh roasted 100% Arabica bold, called Woodward Avenue Blend.  This is from Detroit Bold Coffee Co. Smooth & smokey, this is an 8oz bag of ground coffee that smells wonderful. I haven't had a chance to tear into this yet.

The Sea Salt Caramels are in a dark chocolate coating, and is a .5 oz package.  Sanders Fine Chocolates were established in 1875, and the caramel recipe has been around since 1920.

The package of Salt Water Taffy is from Martha's Original Mackinac Island Fudge.  It's a 5oz package & contains about 25 pieces of candy.  This recipe dates back to the late 1800's. I personally don't care for taffy, but Mr. SnuggleBunny & the girl love it.  This won't last long!

The Zzang! What the Fudge bar is from Zingerman's Candy.  Zingerman's has been around since 1982, and a favorite of Ann Arbor, Michigan's residents.  This bar is reminiscent of a Milky Way.

The last item in the box is a container of tea from Cherry Republic.  The Wild Cherry Tea smells delicious, and reminds me of the black cherry pipe tobacco my dad used to smoke.  Cherry Republic is the largest exclusive cherry retailer in Michigan.

The booklet included is a beautifully printed overview of the state of Michigan.  It's like a mini travel booklet.  It talks about the population, weather, places to experience, etc.

You can tell a lot of care was taken into curating this box.  If you have always wished to travel to across the country experiencing each state's  unique specialties, now you can. All from your own home each month.

Each monthly box is $39.95.  Plans automatically renew monthly. You can cancel anytime, and shipping is free.

Discover Our America can also be gifted in six, nine or 12 month intervals.

I think this is a great concept, and a well made box. I learned a bit about Michigan, which is one of the states I haven't been to yet.  It's noce to get a taste of the local foods, and I feel that I know a little bit more about the state.
