My daughter has been begging for an electric pencil sharpener forever.  We have one of those mounted ones that the used to have in every classroom.  Personally I love that type. Her, not so much.  So when I was able to aquire this for a review, I jumped at the chance.

They mention that this is is for regular pencils only and not meant for colored pencils. That's OK. (Though I might try. shhh.. ;-) ) The sharpener works great. You can either use 4 batteries or the USB plug. Since I have a surge protector at my desk with USB ports, I just plugged it into there. I don't have 4 AA batteries at the moment to try the battery option.

It was powerful enough that it sharpens pencils quickly, and doesn't get stuck, or catch. It sharpens them to a nice point, but not so thin that if you put pressure on the point it will break. I've used it for round pencils, and the sided ones. No problems what so ever. The cover was a bit tricky to get off. Make sure you do this OVER the garbage can. It doesn't hold a lot of shavings, and will spill even with just one pencil done.

It came with an extra blade which I thought was nice. Hopefully it won't need it too soon. Overall I really like this sharpener, and my daughter is enjoying sharpening her pencils instead of getting aggravated at them sharpening only one side or breaking inside the unit.

The pencil sharpener has an automatic safety lock function. It stops operation once the shaving tray is removed. It won't over-sharpen. It has automatic idling once the pencil tip has been shaved within 0.01"-0.02".  It has a replaceable sharpener. And an extra one comes in the package!

This sharpener can be powered by either USB (wire included) or 4 AA batteries (not included). It also has nonskid feet hold the sharpener in place during use. The translucent shavings tray alerts you when to empty pencil shavings.  Made from ABS, SK5 Steel, weighs 0.57lb, and measures 3.1" x 2.4" x 5.5".
