Grandpa's Jerky Subscription Review
There's quite a few Jerkys out there, and they are so different. We didn't know what to expect when we received our package. We were pleasantly surprised.
We received an Enthusiast 'box', which is three flavors.
Our shipment included:
- Original Hickory
- Blueberry Habanero
- Sweet Teriyaki
And yes, when you subscribe, you get to choose 3 flavors.
Each package is 2.55 ounce and heat sealed. They are produced and packaged by Fisher Packing Company in Indiana.
Jerky is fairly low in calories, being only about 35 calories per ounce. Each serving contains 6g protein, and only 1g sugar.
Some of the flavors do contain MSG & nitrates.
The packages do not need to be refrigerated until after you open them.
The fruit offsets the meat just enough which gives it this fresh, non-meaty taste. And then the habanaro strikes. Oh my, right there, in the throat. Oh yeah, that was good.
The consistency of the jerky is like that of the ones in the stores. This however was a lot thicker, and not rubbery at all. It's got that dried pull, and not soft or mushy. You will definitely use your teeth on this one.
The aroma is very nice & pungent. You can definitely smell the spices here. Especially with the hickory. You get the aroma in your nose before the meat hits your tongue, and that gives you extra sense when you taste it.You can purchase a one-time shipment, a gift, or a month sub in different sizes.
Jerky is in of itself expensive, so for artisan jerky shipped to your door, this is quite cost effective!
All-in-all, if you like jerky, you'll want to try this. The flavors are great, and it is like the typical jerky in texture. The packages are good sized for your backpack, or a car trip.
