Lip Monthly January 2016 Bag Review & Coupon

This was my first Lip Monthly bag. I have to say I was impressed when opening the package. All this for $12.95 including shipping? Nice!

My Lip Monthly came in a padded envelope. Nothing fancy, but I don't expect pretty printed packages anyway.

All the contents were intact, and arrived in good shape. That's all I ask.

Lip Monthly comes with a very professional info card. I like info cards.

It says a little about company news, and lists the contents of the bag, and their value.

January's bag contains 4 items:
  • StarLooks LipLiner (msrp $14)
  • City Color Lipstick (msrp $4.99)
  • Ofra Liquid Lipstick ($19.90)
  • Oscar Blandi Hair Masque Varies ($25+)
Total retail value of January's bag is over $64!

The first item in the bag is the Starlook lipliner.

It looks like the color is "Stellar".  It's a nice mauve. Not too stark or dark.

Swatch Lipliner
The edges are crisp when applying. It doesn't bleed into the fine lines around the lips.

This is a full-sized lipliner & will last quite a while.

It did not rub or smear, and lasted quite long without making a mess. It blends in well with the addition of lipstick without a high contrast no matter the color you use, light or dark.

City Color
City Color Be Matte Lipstick is next.

The color I received is Latte. It is a full-sized product.  It's a smooth creme & the square tube is easy to hold.

When I first put it on, I thought it was too close to skin color, and would make my lips look washed out. However, it rubbed in really nice & smooth, and I ended up liking the color a lot. It didn't rub off easily onto paper, skin or glass.

The next item is supposed to be Ofra Liquid Lipstick, but I received Coastal Scents. I looked online & it doesn't look like it's the same company, so what I received must have been substituted. That's OK.

I received color #80 which is a deep plum. I probably would have worn this 10 years ago, but it's quite rich & too deep for me now. This is a full-sized product, and is paraban free.

It went on smooth, and was difficult to remove. It did rub off easily onto paper, skin & glass. However, the lips stayed stained with color no matter how much you rubbed off. So it has it's pros & cons.

Both lipsticks are nice.

Having only 4 products in the bag, I would have rather had something else instead of the second lipstick such as a gloss or balm. But, if you're a lippy who likes to have a varient of shades, I can easily see how this would welcome!

The last item in the bag is Oscar Blandi moisture recovery treatment balm.

This is a large 4.2oz tube.

You apply this to clean damp hair, leave for 5 minutes & rinse.

It smells like a salon product, is very creamy, and leaves hair smooth & soft. I will use this entire thing!

Although Lip Monthly "focuses" on lip products, they do include other beauty & cosmetic items as well. I think it's a nice change up to the bag.

I like how they throw in a different beauty product.
Now for the actual bag. I have to say, I like this bag! It's a simple nylon brown & white makeup bag.

I like how everything is in a bag, and not just thrown into an envelope. It's a nice, classy touch.

Overall I have to say that this bag is definitely worth the subscription if you like lip products! I'd like the chance to see a couple more bags to make a more thorough overall review of the subscription itself. Monthly bags/boxes can vary so much, that just one doesn't give a broad enough view.
