Seeds of the Month Club February 2016 Review

I've been receiving Seeds of the Month from Average Person Gardening for over a year now. I am very pleased with the subscription. For about $3 a month, how can you go wrong?!

Mike the Gardener
Each month you receive 4 packets of seeds that are based on your growing zone. Year-long.

The seeds are open pollinated, heirloom varieties and are non GMO

They procure their seeds from a few places in the United States, however, the bulk of their seeds are derived from specific grower-farmers located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

For February I received:
  • Charleston Gray Watermelon
  • Blue Lake Beans
  • Vegetable Marrow, White Bush Squash
  • Detroit Dark Red Beets
I've never seen this variety of squash. It's like a bluish, greenish white.  I can't wait to grow this! It's supposedly easy to grow. I hope.

Squash contain calcium, iron, vitamins A, B1, B2, niacin, and C.

Beets are good for you. The contain calcium, iron, vitamins A, B1 , B2, niacin, & C.

Beets are a good addition to any family's garden.

Blue Lake beans are easy to grow. Beans are delicious when eaten fresh, frozen, or canned.

Beans are a low calorie, high fiber, and a great source of vitamins & minerals.

This variety of watermelon is sweet & flavorful. They mature in 80-100 days.

Watermelon contains calcium, iron, vitamins A, B1, B2, and Niacin.

Like any seed packet, it contains instructions for planting, depth, spacing, germination time, thinning, and maturity time.

The back of the seed packet tells a little about the variety, care, harvesting, and health benefits.

Seeds last a long time if stored in a dark, dry place. Germination percentage goes down a bit each year, but seeds don't actually go bad. So, if you can't plant your seeds right away, no worries, each packet contains enough seeds to give you a good harvest even next year.

All-in-all, Seeds of the Month club is an awesome subscription. It's innexpensive and you don't have to go to the nursery for seeds in spring!

After you join, if you refer your friends (and they use your code when signing up), your subscription is extended, which means more seeds for you!
