My last digital thermometer which I had used for about a decade finally bit the dust, so I decided to get the Digital Instant Read Thermometer by Kany to replace it.

This is a good meat thermometer, and lives up to the description, but I personally just don't like it much. It runs off one battery, and has a battery cover that latches well. The digital display is easy to read, and it has a very convenient chart on the thermometer itself. In my tests, I found it read about 5 degrees hotter than my analog candy thermometer. I'm not sure which one is off, so I'll have to do a celebrated test before using it for meat.

The probe is long & is spring loaded. It folds, and fits neatly inside the handle. It turns on when you open the probe, and off when you close it.  It's kinda hard for me to get the probe open. You can switch between C & F by a switch inside the battery cover. It can save the last temp by pressing the hold button (until you turn it off). You must push the hold button again to check the current temp of your meat. I found the buttons were a bit difficult to push. I had to use my nail to push them.


As you can see, there are some really nice features with this thermometer, but there are things I just didn't like.

Toggle Units: Shift the switch under the battery cover to set the default to "Fahrenheit" or "Celsius".
Just turn it on and insert the temperature a couple of centimeter into the food you want to know the temperature of. In a few seconds, a highly accurate temperature reading will be displayed on the built-in LCD screen.
