Peaches & Petals January 2016 Subscription Box Review

This was my first Peaches & Petals box. I used  coupon PEACHADDICT to get the box at 50% off. As of right now, I do believe the coupon is still in effect. The company just recently raised their monthly prices from $14.99 to $19.99. This still includes free shipping.

Unpacking....
This was a large & heavy box. I had seen the January spoiler, so I knew one of the items in the box, but everything else was a surprise.

The tissue paper is of a 'travel' theme. Pretty.

Included is a nicely printed informational card about all the items included in the box. Also was a February spoiler, which is a Love themed throw pillow cover.
Info card

There were 5 items in the January box:
  • Fruit infuser Water Bottle
  • Selfie Stick
  • Adventure Jewelry (mine was a bracelet)
  • Healthy Cooking Cookbook
  • Inspirational Decal

Let me start off my review by saying I'm reviewing the subscription box from an honest, normal consumer's opinion. I'm not reviewing the individual products in the box. I review the box so that you can decide if this is something you'd like to subscribe to. As for the products, if a product stands out, good or bad, I will make a separate review for that product/brand.

Cookbook
The first item is a very large & heavy cookbook. I've seen a lot of complaints about this being an older book (2011), and that it was given out free with a subscription to Family Circle a while back. None of that bothers me. The company (Peaches & Petals) got a good deal on the books & they included them in the box. It's a nice hardcover cookbook & I don't have it. Sure, it kinda lowers the total value of the box, but you are still paying a small amount for this subscription. The recipes have full-color photos & look pretty simple. I like it.

Bracelet

The jewelry in this month's box was either a necklace or bracelet. I received the plane & cloud travel bracelet. My daughter wanted to claim it, but it's to big for her. It's not my cup of tea, but it will make a nice gift.

Inspirational Decal
The box included a large inspirational decal. I'm not quite sure what It's of nice quality.... and I love adventures. I'll probably use in in my roadschool scrapbook!

Fruit Infuser Bottle

This fruit infuser bottle is actually the reason I ordered this box. Unlike everyone else on the planet, I don't have one of these yet. I've wanted one, but they're expensive. By receiving the box for $7.49, I got a fruit infuser bottle for a lot less than in the store, and all this other stuff to boot! They always have a spoiler for the upcoming month's box on their site. This bottle is glass, not plastic. My bottle's silicone is purple, one of 4 colors they sent out. It's a large 17 oz & made by Hamilton Beach. I'm very happy with my bottle & will be using it today.

Selfie Stick

The last item in the box was a selfie stick. The brand is Kikkerland. This isn't one of those really cheap ones, it's fully adjustable & expands to over 3 feet! Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work with either one of my phones. The windows phone has absolutely no setting to make the volume controls to capture. "Not compatible with Windows OS" is on the card. Although my android phone has always been set to this, pressing the button on the stick does absolutely nothing, and it's not compatible either (there is a link so you can look it up). I was quite disappointed. Maybe when I finally get a new phone, it will work.

Overall, I like this box. It was an interesting curation on a "Lets do this" theme. The value of the box is way above the cost of the box at full-price. Had they not raised the price, I probably would have stuck with this subscription. But then again, I have a lot of subscriptions & have to pick & choose. This is a real good box that's inexpensive, and not full of makeup or food.
