SumoCrate December 2015 Subscription Box Review

SumoCrate is relatively new. Each box contains 8-10 snacks. They include a variety of protein sources, including meat jerkies, nut butters and plant-based snacks.

I ran across this box in early December, and I knew I had to try it. I really like healthy snack subscription boxes. By receiving products in these boxes, I get to try new things, and then I can purchase larger quantities of things I know I like.

I was drawn towards this box because of the high protein. Being hypoglycemic, I need to eat protein every few hours, and you have to admit, there just isn't that much choice in the mainstream grocery store. Perfect for me!
What I saw when opening the box

The box was pretty full. It contained 9 snacks:
  • Wildzora Masala Turkey Bars with Spinach, Dates, Cardamom
  • RXBAR Chocolate Sea Salt
  • Country Archer Beef Jerky, Cracked Pepper
  • Coco Libre, Almond Protein
  • Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter Squeeze Pack
  • Justin's Honey Peanut Butter Squeeze Pack
  • Seapoint Farms Edamame, Single Serve Light Salt
  • Squarebar, Chocolate Coated Crunch
  • Nugo Stronger, Caramel Pretzel

Instead of an info card, the box contained a printout of the items. Although it was very thorough, listing all macros, three full pages was a little overwhelming. I'd be happy with an info card with a link to an online composite of this information. They'll work out the kinks. ;-)

Justin's & Wild Zora

I've tried Justin's peanut butter before. It's yummy. I stashed these away for a lunch away from home.

The Turkey & Veggie bars sound.... interesting. I haven't worked up the gumption to try this yet. The inclusion of dates makes me think they will be someone sweet as well as savory.

I'm a fan of take-along protein drinks. I have a long drive to the city, and I always keep one with me. It will be nice to have a different one to try!

Spicy Wasabi isn't for me, so I handed these off to the hubby. The man of cookies for breakfast has been eating much healthier since I started getting these boxes. ;-)

Country Archer

My daughter & husband wolfed these down in no time flat. They are big jerky fans. I tried a bite too, just for this review. They had a nice sweetness to counteract the pepperiness. I really think it's great to receive jerky in a subscription box. Something other than the mainstream brands are so nice to try!

Protein bars
I have a love for protein bars. These went right into my stash for going to the city. They are new to me, so I can't wait to try them!

Nugo Stronger

Overall, I am very happy with SumoCrate so far. I had a coupon (of course), and originally signed up for 3 months to try them out. I just don't think one box is sufficient because food subscription boxes are very pallet specific. I paid $59 for 3 months, which works out to be less than $20 a month. I'm good with that!! But if my next 2 boxes are like these, yep.... I'll subscribe for a year.

If you want healthy, high protein snacks, give these guys a try!
