Retro Pop Box January 2016 70's Subscription Box Review

Each Retro Pop Box contains 4-7 items, valued at over $45, for a jolt of nostalgia from your favorite decade. Each box spans the decade and touches on iconic events, music, shows, movies, toys, candy and more!

I just want to repeat myself here.... I LOVE Retro Pop Box. If I could afford it, I'd get all three decades! This is a niche that I don't think anyone else does, and is long overdue in the subscription box world.

This is my second box for the 70's. I signed up for a 3-month sub. Even though I'm not familiar with everything in the boxes, it's still a win for me. Oooh, the nostalgia.

When I opened up the box, this sticker was laying on top. Emotions of sadness overwhelmed me, then of happiness having this cool sticker. RetroPopBox  really wanted to put a Bowie tribute in the box to celebrate his life and career. "We all loved Bowie!!" I think it's awesome.

Info card
RetroPop Box always includes a very nice info card. It explains each item, and why it's included.

This month there were 5 items (plus bonuses):
  • Toga, Toga, Toga exclusive T-Shirt
  • Space Invaders cinch sack
  • Happy Days Teeny Tin
  • Doctor Who 500 year diary
  • Fantastic Four The Thing button
  • Mini print on the back of the info card
  • Retro Pop Box bookmark
  • Bowie tribute sticker

Toga, Toga, Toga

Each box includes a t-shirt. This is an exclusive Toga, Toga, Toga. I like it. Even though I was too young for Toga parties, I remember how popular they were! It's a soft, thick shirt. Since my wardrobe is pretty much exclusively jeans & t-shirts...perfect.

Happy Days tin

Thanks for the earworm, guys. Now I have the Happy Days theme going through my head. lol It's tiny, like a candy tin. Designed to look like the lunch boxes we carried as a kid. It's cute! Yes, I grew up watching Happy Days & their spin-offs. "Ehhh"

Doctor Who diary
I have to say, that even thouh I'm a science fiction buff, I've never seen Doctor Who. I know a lot about it from crafts I do, and from geek boxes, but I've never sat down & watched it. *gasp* The diary looks purple in this pic, but I assure you, it's a real nice gold & brown notebook.

Button, bookmark & sticker

A few of the other items in the box. There was of course the Bowie sticker I mentioned. Also included was bookmark which has a "fun fact" about Doctor Who. Then there was a The Thing button. I do have a button collection, so this will go right in there.  I started it a while ago being nostalgic of all the buttons I used to have pinned on my denim jacket. Man, I wish I had those still! The Thing was much more popular back then than it is now.

Space Invaders cinch sack

My favorite item in the box is the Space invaders bag! It's of a nice quality & just the right size. I am not one of those girl-girls that carry a purse, but I do take a bag with me in the car when I go to the city (a 3-hr round trip), to carry snacks, drinks, & paperwork in. This will be perfect. I grew up playing Space Invaders. I will be proud to carry around this bag.

Bag close-up

Here is a close up of the bag. makes me want to break out my Atari. Yes, I have my original Atari from 1981.

Overall, if you are a fan of Retro, and if you miss the old days of your childhood, this box is great! The items are not only cool, but they trigger memories you had long forgotten.

They do have one for the 60's & one for the 80's. I was really contemplating the 80's instead of the 70's when ordering because that was my tween/teen years. But the 70's take me back to being an innocent child of a time that seems so long ago. Take your pick, and order a subscription. You won't be disappointed!
