Sci-Fi Block January 2016 Subscription Box Review

This is my third, and last month of my Sci-Fi Block 3-month subscription. I have been very happy with this box. Very happy. I mean, last month I got a Tribble! I like the Sci-Fi box because I'm not into comics, or geeky movies & TV shows, so the other nerd-type boxes don't have much for my tastes. But the science fiction, I like. Unfortunately I had to cancel this box because the shipping just made it way too expensive. $20 I could do, but $30 is just out of my budget for grown-up toys that aren't even used. *sigh*

The opened box
The Sci-Fi block is the newest of the Nerd Block family. They have a  the following blocks:
  • Nerd Block Classic
  • Horror Block
  • Arcade Block
  • Sci-Fi Block
  • Comic Block
  • Nerd Block Jr. for Boys
  • Nerd Block Jr. for Girls

The whole family gathers around to open geek boxes. Yup, a family of geeks. Oy. ;-)

Info card
Each box has an info card inclosd which explains the items in the box.

The items in the January box were:
  • Tardis Schematic ShirtPunch T-Shirt
  • Funko Reaction: The Terminator-Endoskeleton
  • The Iron Giant Button 4-pack
  • Doctor Who Decals
  • Funko Pop! Vinyl: The Matrix
  • Star Trek Skele-Trek Mini Figure
Six items, including the T-shirt.
Neo

The first item, A Neo vinyl Pop is pretty cool. We've watched the Matrix movies several times through the years. This one will actually go in my son's room next to his Star Wars Potato Heads.

The Terminator

The Terminator item is kinda cute. Although we've seen the older movies multiple times, this collector's toy isn't really my cup of tea. It's a typical action figure, but we don't collect those. It will go in the pile of 'sell/give away' items.

The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant..... Honestly, I've never heard of it. I know, I know. Sorry. It is a nice 4-pack of button pins though. My husband explained what it is. Even though it's "science fiction", I'm not into cartoons. Anyway, it's a nice inclusion to the box.

I do have a collection of pins, but not knowing what these are, they will go into that safe-keeping pile for later. That makes me think, I do wish I had all my pins from the 80s that covered my denim jacket! Hmmm... I wonder whatever happened to all those.

The next item, The Star-Trek Skele-Trek Mini Figure, is the creepiest, weirdest geek toy I've ever seen. And I love it! There is a collection of them, and I got Picard. Pretty cool, but I really wish I had gotten the Gorn! Oh well. Maybe someday another geek box will have one of these in it so I can expand my new collection. :-)

Tardis Schematic T-shirt

The T-shirt. There is always a shirt included in the box. It's a really nice shirt with a very well done graphic on it. I'm not a huge Doctor Who fan. Probably only because I haven't seen much of the show. But watching this looooong series is on my to-do list. Someday. I will wear this shirt as it feels comfy.

The last items in the box were more of Doctor Who. It is a nice set of decals/stickers you can stick on your laptop, a window, or your lunchbox with. I know just who to gift these to!

Although most of the items in this month's box aren't for me, I think it's a very well curated box. It has a nice diverse collection of themes & items. Even if yo aren't happy with everything in the monthly boxes, Nerd Block does a great job at making it so you are at least happy with some of the items. And for a surprise subscription, that's all you can ask for! Sci-Fi Block promises exclusive items, quality name brands, and a value of over $60 each month,. They deliver that.
