First Botany Cosmeceuticals Products

Between age, skin damage from my younger years before knowing any better, and this horrible Colorado climate, I am tired of the condition of my skin. I'm on a mission, and I'm doing a series on skin care brands & products to see what I like, and don't like.

The second brand I'm trying is First Botany Cosmeceuticals. I liked the ingredients and the descriptions.

I'm not a fan of 'stuff' on my skin, so not only will this take some getting used to, I'm going to be picky. Also, fragrances bother me. A lot of skin care products are heavily scented, and I don't know why.

The first product is 100% Natural Arabica Coffee Scrub. I love coffee, I love scrubs, I really was looking forward to this product. I opened the jar, and oh my goodness it smelled so good! Well, if you love coffee like me.

The emulsified formula is made using high quality, all natural gourmet coffee, which softens skin as it scrubs away dirt and dead skin cells. This formula also contains skin-loving Coconut Oil, Olive oil, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil making this aromatic exfoliating scrub a luxurious staple in any skin care regime.

The jar I received was sealed in plastic, but had leaked. Even with the foil seal still intact. There was oil soaked into the label, and oil stains on the box. I figure between the heat of the UPS truck & warehouses, this could happen. But I wish the company had wrapped it better though, because the other items in my box were oily. 

Active Ingredients in this scrub:

• Caffeine will stimulate blood flow and help reduce the appearance of cellulite, eczema, stretch marks, age spots, varicose veins and psoriasis.
• Dead Sea Salt will exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin, acne, whiteheads, blackheads,breakouts and other skin blemishes.
• Coconut Oil will hydrate and moisturize your skin.
• Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter are high in antioxidants which nourish and protect the skin, promoting cell repair and rejuvenation.

Benefits of using this Scrub include exfoliates your skin, restores elasticity, increases circulation, super hydration, boosts cell turnover, reduces fine lines, repairs damage from sun spots, reduces inflammation, evens skin tone brightens and softens skin.

I really, really wanted to like this scrub. I guess it's not a bad product, but it's just not for me.

When I opened the container, the contents were separated. All the oil was on the bottom. It was quite difficult to scoop out. When I did get it scooped, and try to put on my body, most of it just fell off. the granules are large & just don't mix with the oil. I really like the coffee, but it was like rubbing used coffee grounds on my skin. I know that's actually a thing, but it's not what I was expecting in a scrub.


I didn't like the very oily feeling it left on my skin after I rinsed the scrub off. I know some people like that oily feeling, but I don't at all. It was just way too much. Like I rubbed olive oil on my skin.

This may very well be how this scrub is supposed to be. I, personally, just don't like it.

I have a few more First Botany products to try. I'm not giving up yet.

Tea tree Oil Scrub

This jar was also sealed, but was oily on the outside as well. I've noticed this seems to be a common thing with scrubs that contain oils. I'm not a fan.

This scrub also has very large particles. As I scooped the scrub out of the container & onto my feet, much of it fell into the tub. I guess I just like the micro scrubs better. It doesn't mean this is bad, it's just not my cup o' tea.

The scent is very much tea tree oil. It's strong in the container, but not as you use it. As a scrub, it does a great job. My feet felt refreshed after using. They felt clean and exfoliated.

100% Natural Coconut Milk Body Polish

There is no better way to finish a shower or bath than with this First Botany Coco Scrub body polish scrub. It gently exfoliates and moisturizes your skin, leaving it glowing and radiant. Gently massage onto damp skin. Rinse with warm water leaving your skin smooth and smelling divine. It instantly softens, smoothes and revitalizes your skin.

I think I like this scrub best out of the rest so far.

This scrub felt really nice. It's 100% natural and contains coconut milk, sea salt, vitamin Eoil, avocado oil, almond oil, apricot kernel oil, sunflower oil, Sapphire oil, grapeseed oil, and dead sea salt. It has large-sized granules for exfoliation. Personally, I like them smaller, but that is my own preference & does not take away from my opinion of the scrub itself.

This scrub has a clean, refreshing coconut scent. It's not overpowering, and the scent is barely there after rinsing, so you don't smell like you just came back from the beach. OK, personally I love that smell. I grew up at the beach. My package, though sealed, had some oil around the outside.

The scrub isn't too hard to scoop, and it's not too oily. But I wouldn't use it on the bottoms of your feet while in the shower. It felt good on my skin while scrubbing, and really smooth once out of the shower. It sloughs off the dead skin to let the fresh new skin shine. My skin feels soft and not like it's been sanded. I don't use it on my entire body, I don't think I'd like that. But I do use it on the tough skin areas that need a bit of help. You don't use a lot of the product, so this will last a while.

Overall a nice coconut scrub.

Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo

I've recently been trying a bunch of Argan oil products, and I'm really liking the results! This is a review for [[ASIN:B017O34AWE Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo with Restorative Formula 16 fl. oz. I have very, very dry hair thanks to lack of humidity in Colorado. Add being outside a lot, and the wind.... my hair is a disaster. It's like straw. I don't color it, and I don't use styling products. This is just the way it is now. I use shampoo, conditioner, and sometimes a mask or leave-in to help with tangles, because it tangles so easily. Argan oil has helped.

This shampoo is a good size. Some shampoos are small for the price, but this is 16oz, so it will last a bit. I like the scent. It's not flowery, or smells of fake fruit. It's not too heavy of a scent either. My hair seems to be a bit softer & easier to comb after using this with my normal conditioner. I don't like the feeling of leave-in oils on my hair, so the fact that the oil is in the shampoo is something that drew me to the product.

What I don't like about this shampoo is because the shampoo is very thick, and the pump that is on the bottle is very small. With 3-ft of hair, I need a good amount of shampoo, so I have to pump it many times. I wish more shampoo would come out with each pump. Instead I have to take it off & pour it out. But otherwise, I'm quite happy with the results of this shampoo.

This is not a regular shampoo but a therapeutic shampoo.
