For centuries, activated charcoal has been used in medicine due to its natural ability to bind to harmful substances and prevent their absorption. This makes it an extremely effective stain, tartar and plaque remover.

Mother's Vault uses all natural, simple ingredients period. No questions asked. The natural ingredients are words which you can not only pronounce, but are familiar with as well.

I'm trying to switch over to some more natural products. I just don't have the motivation to make them. So, when I run across the convenience of pre-packaged natural products, it's a win for me. The only time I've used activated charcoal before is recently in a facial cleanser. Because of this I was [almost] prepared for a black product. But I don't care who you are, squeezing out black toothpaste is just weird that first time.

The tube was sealed with a foil cap. The contents are things that I can read, and know what they are. So, after a bit of trepidation, I tried it. I don't know why, but the paste is really hard to squeeze out of the tube. I'll have to look to see if it's blocked. I hope it doesn't stay like that. Anyway, the paste is black. And it makes your teeth green & black when brushing. My daughter was curious when I tried it, and she said I looked like I was using Halloween mouth stuff. But, it rinses clean, so you don't have to worry about walking around looking like a witch.

It had a nice minty taste & aroma. Not overpowering & not fake like other toothpastes. I noticed that it doesn't have that foamy pasty feeling, and that's fine. I did feel my teeth getting clean though. I made a point of not brushing & getting a few hours of build up on my teeth before trying this for the first time. After rinsing, my teeth felt really clean & not gritty or slimy. I was able to eat/drink right afterwards and it didn't give my food a funny taste. There's points right there.

The bamboo toothbrush is OK. I personally don't like straight handled brushes. The charcoal toothpaste does stain the bamboo toothbrush, where it doesn't stain regular commercial brands. That says something about the naturalness of the bristles! But still, I just don't like the shape or feel.

Overall, if you can get paste the look of stuffing oreos in your mouth when brushing your teeth, and you want the convenience of a natural toothpaste in a tube instead of mixing it yourself, I feel this is a real good toothpaste.
