We had the pleasure of reviewing a Camano Island Coffee from their Coffee Lover’s Club.

ALL Camano Island Coffee is USDA Certified Organic, Shade Grown and Fairly Traded.

The Coffee Lover’s Club is not exactly a monthly club. You receive your shipment on the frequency that YOU set. It's a highly customizable subscription.

You start out by choosing whether you'd like to receive 2, 3, or 4 pounds of coffee per shipment. You can then either choose the specific blend or origin that you would prefer. Next, you pick your roast. Or, you can choose the coffee of the month. You can then choose your grind. They have everything from whole bean, to Turkish. Lastly, you decide your frequency. You can choose 4, 6, 8, or every 10 weeks.

All of their coffees are very, very low in acidity right from the start. They carry Light Roasted, Medium Roasted, and Dark Roasted Coffees. The primary difference is a balance between tasting the natural coffee flavor (light roast) and tasting the roast (dark roast).

They also have Decaf and Half-caff available using Swiss Water process. This is a process to remove caffeine from coffee. Simply, this process boils the green beans before they’re roasted. This technique effectively removes 99.9% of the caffeine from the beans with nothing but water. Water processed is the only organic way to decaffeinate coffee. Water process is the safe decaf coffee.

We were shipped  a 16oz bag of Papua New Guinea. It has distinct chocolaty tones with a crisp clean finish.  I freshly ground the coffee, and used a french press to brew. It is a very satisfying coffee.  It not only smelled wonderful, but the aroma heightened the flavor of the coffee. There was absolutely no bitterness.

A coffee should have a variety of flavors, from spicy to floral to even hints of chocolate. In fact, there’s a whole flavor wheel dedicated to ways of describing great coffee.

What makes Camano Island different?

Camano Island Coffee is known first for it’s work with the farmers helping them to build a sustainable economic future.

This has been achieved through a partnership with Agros to help farmers purchase their own land.

By supporting only ethical coffee that’s Certified Organic, Shade-Grown, and Fairly Traded, you preserve the environment and prevent human poisoning from pesticides.

By supporting ethical coffee that’s fairly traded, you know coffee farmers receive a fair wage — that’s life altering.

By only purchasing ethical coffee that is fairly traded, Camano Island Coffee Roasters partners with you in giving a fair wage for a beautiful product. The difference is in enabling farmers to provide food, clothing, shelter, and an education for their children.

You can order one bag
on Amazon now
For every Coffee Lover’s Box shipment you receive from CICR, $1.00 is given back to the farmers through Agros Guatemala and other non-profit organizations.

Every bag that leaves the roaster has a roasted on date stamped on the top sealed edge, so you can know exactly when it was roasted. You can tell it’s the top 1% coffee in the world once you take that first sip.

Camano Island uses single origin coffee. This is coffee from only one country or region. This gives you the true taste of place. It is one guarantee of no filler robusta beans.
