Kaffe Box March Review

This was our first taste of Scandinavian coffee. I love the idea of trying coffee from other parts of the world, and this subscription makes it easy!

The coffee they ship is roasted specifically for KaffeBox. The micro-roasteries roast the coffee per our order and ship it to them immediately. The coffee is no more than a day or two post roast when they  ship it to you.

The coffees are ethically sources, and of top quality.

We received two, 125g bags of coffee. Both coffees were from the same roaster, Auden Coffee. They are small-scale coffee producer based in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and are the 2015 World Coffee Roasting Champion. Although the company is based in Poland, it is Norwegian roaster.

In the package is an info card. The card describes the roaster and the blends. It's a very detailed card, and I learned a lot reading it.

I loved receiving a package from Norway. OK, so I'm easily amused.

I love the plain black bags from Kaffe Box. Sleek. Each bag is labeled with the roaster's label.

The Kamiro is a local Heirloom harvested, washed coffee.  It comes from Motherland Farmer's in Nyamagabe, Rwanda.

This is a whole bean, and roasted on 2/21/16. It is sweet and delicate with a raspberry juicyness, and is complex in flavor.

The Patrimonio Pijao is a whole bean, single origin coffee that is a washed and Castillo and Caturra harvested in June/July of 2015. It was roasted on 2/21/16.

This coffee is from Vargas, Diaz & Cardenas in Planadas, Columbia.

This roast is heavy and solid, with a sweet, savory, and thick flavor with a hint of tropical fruit.

I found this roast a bit acidic.

We received whole bean, and I ground it before brewing in the french press.

They will grind the beans for you & send you ground coffee if you'd rather not receive whole. You can choose fine, medium or coarse.

With your subscription, you can also choose to receive filter coffee roasts, or espresso.

We also received two dark chocolate candies from Michel Cluizel Chocolatier in our envelope. It was a nice sweet touch, and pairing well with a cup of coffee.

If you want to expand your horizons and taste freshly roasted coffee from another part of the world, this is a great subscription to try. At only $17 a month for 250g, why not. You can cancel anytime.
