What will March bring?
March. March is the promise of spring, longer days, and warm sunshine. March is the start of spring cleaning, and the twitterpating of wild animals. March is when green grass comes back into our lives, and colorful flowers appear everywhere almost overnight.
On this day in 1963, Walk Like A Man by the 4 Seasons was the #1 song.
I found several March birds of the month. The Oystercatcher, the Fish Crow, and the Dunnock to name a few.
March is National Craft Month and Music in Our Schools Month.
The 2nd Week in March is National Bubble Week and Crochet Week. Get them hooks & wands out!
In the US, it's National MS Education and Awareness Month. You can go to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation to learn more. In March, the NCAA runs the March To Health.
It's also National Nutrition Month which is put on by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
In the UK, it's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
March is National Fresh Celery Month, National Frozen Food Month, and National Peanut Month.
March is also National Caffeine Awareness Month. Oh, I'm aware of caffeine. I'm aware! ;-)
The astrological signs in March are Pisces till the 20th, and Aries from the 21st.
March 1st is National Pig Day. This day recognizes and gives thanks to domesticated pigs. Ellen Stanley, a Texas art teacher created National Pig Day in 1972. Her intent was to to recognize and be thankful for pigs as intelligent domestic animals.
March 2 is National Banana Cream Pie Day.
March 3rd is World Wildlife Day.
March 7 is National Cereal Day.March 12th is Plant a Flower Day. It's a day to get a little dirt under your fingernails. Take a few minutes to plant a flower today.
March 13th, Daylight Saving Begins. Clocks will shift forward 1 hour. DST always begins on the second Sunday in March, and ends on the first Sunday in November.
March 14 is National Potato Chip Day. And of course, March 14th is Pi Day!
March 15th is the Ides of March. Its' also National Agriculture Day. It's a day to salute American Agriculture and everyone who plays a role in it. This day is organized and promoted by the Agriculture Council of America (ACA). This special day originated in 1973.
March 17th is Saint Patrick's Day.
Saint Patrick was a priest and former slave and who is known converting the Irish to Christianity. St. Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland. St. Patrick used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the Trinity to non-Christians. The leaves stood for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Wear green! In some parts of the world the custom is to pinch people who aren't wearing the color of shamrocks.
March 19 is Poultry day. Poultry Day celebrates chicken, turkey and other birds. Chicken and turkey are lower in fats, and cholesterol than other meats, making it better for your health. They also give you your breakfast eggs. Most famous Chicken is Foghorn leghorn.
March 20th is Palm Sunday. It's also Extraterrestrial Abductions Day. March 20th is also the First Day of Spring! Yay!
March 21 is National Crunchy Taco Day.
March 22 is National Goof Off Day. A few years ago, a survey was performed to identify the most popular activity for goofing off. The top activity was playing video games. Who conducted the survey? Ninetendo. LOL Monica "Moeller" Dufour of Davison Mi. and her grandfather created this special day.
March 23rd is National Puppy Day.
March 25th is Good Friday.
March 27th is Easter.
Whew!
